Residents interested in protecting the community as members of the Fire Department must attend one of the department's weekly meetings for an application. Meetings are on Wednesdays from 7:00pm-9:30pm.

Applicants age 18 or older may become Full Members; those age 16-18 may become Junior Members and continue as Full Members upon turning 18.

Requirements for both types of membership include passing a physical exam and background check, and approval by the New Providence Borough Council and members of the Fire Department. The application process takes one to two months, during which time applicants may attend the weekly meetings to learn about the trucks and equipment.
