Senior Ice Hockey Captain Jake Niemela is this week's Athlete of the Week.

Jake scored all three goals, his first career hat trick, in a stirring Governor Livingston tie with heavily favored Scotch Plains on Wednesday evening. After being routed by Scotch Plains/Fanwood earlier this season, Jake was moved from defense to his natural forward position and responded in true captain fashion by leading GL to its exciting outcome. Jake is a four-year GL varsity ice hockey player and has overcome an injury-plagued senior season to lead the Highlanders. 

"It feels great to get to pick up my team like that," he said. "I just wished we could have pulled out the upset win."
