Unitarian Church Calls for Clothing Donations for Charity Event
Area residents are invited to join in donating clothing in good repair. Drop-offs start from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 6, and continue from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the Unitarian Church in Summit.
High-quality, gently-used clothing for men, women and children will be on the racks at a Clothing Sale on Thursday, May 10, Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12, at The Unitarian Church in Summit, 4 Waldron Ave.
Everyone is welcome. Admission is free.
The congregation's Alliance is sponsoring the sale, which will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The merchandise will be located in the building's lower level, in Fellowship Hall and several classrooms.
Merchandise will include complete ensembles, suits, separates, outerwear, sweaters, shoes and special bargains. There will be a separate Better Women's Clothing Department, including costume jewelry.
Coming at the end of the winter season, the sale gives the congregation and others in the community a chance to clear their closets and recycle perfectly good garments that no longer fit, says Susan Nanney, chair of the sale. "Some people donate brand new clothes with the price tags still attached," she added.
The sale will bring church members and friends together for fun while serving the community by offering good-quality clothing at low prices. The sale benefits church programs. Items left over are given to deserving charities.
