The Watchung Amateur Ski Club invites skiers and snowboarders to its Annual Open House on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 7:00pm at the Mountainside Elks Club, 1193 US Highway 22 East in Mountainside, NJ. Come for an evening of fun including fabulous door prizes, ski resort reps, Club membership info and 2012-2013 trips, complimentary refreshments and cash bar. Established in 1938, the Watchung Amateur Ski Club is a warm, open and welcoming group whose members include singles, couples, married people and families, all ages, from beginners to experts. Admission is free.

2012-2013 trips include Okemo Mountain, VT, December 14-16; Mount Snow, VT, January 11-13; Stratton, VT on February 1-3 for the Annual Club Outing that includes a Club NASTAR-style race and special club dinner; an eight-day trip to Vail, CO, February 24-March 3; and a 4-day New Hampshire bus trip, March 20-24 to ski Waterville Valley, Attitash, Cannon and Loon. The Club will also be running its famous one-day “Sunday Bus Trips” to Windham Mountain, NY, January 1; Elk Mountain, Pam January 27; Belleayre Mountain, NY, February 10; and B.A.S. (Best Available Snow), February 12. Social events including parties, pot luck dinners, hikes, bike rides, whitewater rafting trips, and other activities are also held throughout the year.

The Elks is a fraternal order with a network of more than 2,000 lodges in communities all over the country. The group gives scholarships and helps veterans and youths in its community. This lodge (1585) is located right on Route 22, in the front of the Mountainside Indoor Tennis Courts. Call for meeting times. Thousands of Elks give their time and money to help the ill, the elderly and homeless veterans.
