Jane McCready Awarded Faith Lutheran Scholarship
Jane McCready of Westfield has been awarded the Franklin & Elsie Nelson Scholarship of Faith Lutheran Church for the academic year, 2013-14
Mrs. McCready will be entering her fourth and final year of study at The Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia to become a pastor of Word and Sacrament of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. As part of the program, Mrs. McCready served as a Vicar at Faith Lutheran in addition to undertaking full-time academic work at the Seminary.

Mrs. McCready's internship, during her third year, occurred at St. Stephan's Grace Community Lutheran Church in the Ironbound Section of Newrk.
Mrs. McCready has been an active member of Faith Lutheran for many years. She has served as an Assistant Minister at the Sunday liturgical services, been on the Church Council, led and participated in numerous ministries of Faith and sung in the church choirs, frequently as a soloist.

Mrs. McCready co-chaired the Youth and Family Ministry Team, coordinated the Confirmation program and been a member of the Worship and Music Committee. She organized and leads Faith Lutheran’s AIDS ministry at Broadway House for Continuing Care in Newark. Broadway House is the only specialized care facility in New Jersey for persons living with AIDS/HIV. It is the residence of approximately seventy-five persons.
The Franklin & Elsie Nelson Scholarship program was established nineteen years ago by Franklin Nelson, a long-time member of Faith. The scholarship is given to a member of the church who is pursuing a degree at a Lutheran college or seminary.
