Kent Place Junior From Berkeley Heights Wins National Award For Aspirations In Computing

Summit, NJ (December 18, 2013) – Kent Place School junior Caroline Schiavo of Berkeley Heights has been selected as a winner of the 2014 National NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing. She was recognized for her computing-related aspirations and for her demonstrated, outstanding aptitude and interest in information technology/computing, solid leadership ability, academic history and plans for post-secondary education. 

There were more than 2,300 applications for the award this year.

I have worked with Caroline as our KPS Technology Intern over the summer and leader of the Upper School Laptop Advisory Council, “ said Kimberly Pearson, Kent Place Director of Technology. “Caroline's passion for technology is evident and sets her apart as a leader in information technology.  We are all so proud of her achievement!”

As part of her award, Schiavo is invited to attend the Bank of America Technology Stars of the Future Showcase and Awards Ceremony in Charlotte, NC in the spring. Award winners will be publicly recognized and awarded with a laptop computer at the event.

“I felt like all my hard work was recognized,” stated Schiavo. “Kent Place has certainly ignited the passion within me that began when I was young.”
