New Jersey Youth Symphony Hosts The MLC School from Sydney, Australia

Tuesday, October 1, New Jersey Youth Symphony (NJYS) and Artistic Director Jeffrey Grogan host The MLC School from Sydney, Australia, one of the finest high school string programs in the world. NJYS was selected by The MLC School to share a rehearsal with 25 string and vocal musicians, all young women from this pre-K through grade 12 independent girls school in Australia.

Under the direction of Karen Carey, The MLS School has won awards from the Australian Music Centre, the Australasian Performing Right Association, the Fellowship of Australian Composers, and Orchestras Australia. Ms. Carey has been a recipient of the National Award for Excellence for the Australian Society for Music Education and the Australian Government Quality Teacher Programme.

Sharing a singular musical experience with such an internationally renowned orchestra is a wonderful opportunity for both groups of student musicians who learn from each other and share the joy of playing together. Says NJYS Artistic Director Jeffrey Grogan, “NJYS wants to expose its students to musicians from around the world and encourage these valuable collaborations. We are thrilled to host The MLC School students.” The MLC School’s U. S. tour is conducted by Music Celebrations International.
