Annual Christmas Walk Kicks Off Friday on South Street

Santa will land on the roof of The Provident Bank at 6 p.m. After the parade, there will be family-friendly activities and local businesses will be open with refreshments.

New Providence will welcome Santa during the 39th Annual New Providence Christmas Walk on Friday, Nov. 25. He will be greeted by the Pioneer Band when he lands on the roof of The Provident Bank on South Street at 6 p.m.

The New Providence Fire Department will assist Santa from the roof and then parade with the Pioneer Band down South Street, onto Springfield Avenue and through the Village Shopping Center. New Providence shopkeepers will be open to welcome everyone with holiday refreshments, treats and activities.

During the evening, there will be balloons, candy canes, hot chocolate and cookies for all. Kids can make sand art necklaces, say “Hi” to the Toy Soldier stilt walker and visit with Santa.

You will hear the sounds of the season as carolers stroll the downtown, parents can take their kids pictures with Mrs. Claus and ladies will be able to get a beautiful rose. Delicious hot pretzels will be sold by the Band Parents and those who want to help make the holidays brighter for a less fortunate child or adult can take an Angel off the “Angel Tree.”

The kids will laugh and have fun at SAM’s Magic Clown Shows as well as get a balloon from the elves, a coloring book and enjoy some cider and popcorn. Even the family pet won’t be forgotten with a holiday treat dog food sample.

Enjoy the live animals on the front lawn of the from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and the live Nativity re-enactment at 6:30 p.m.
