Berkeley Heights Resident is Semi-finalist in International Art Competition

Charlann Meluso's photomontage to compete for title in Adobe Design Achievement Awards

Charlann Meluso, Berkeley Heights resident and Computer Graphics teacher at Bayonne High School, has been named as a semi-finalist in the International Adobe Design Achievement Awards. 

Her photomontage, “The World Through Ana’s Eyes,” will compete in the Traditional Media in Education category in San Jose, California, where the top three finalists will be announced at the end of the month.

The Adobe® Design Achievement Awards celebrate student and faculty achievement reflecting the powerful convergence of technology and the creative arts. The competition, which showcases individual and group projects created with industry, leading Adobe creative software, honors the most talented and promising student graphic designers, photographers, illustrators, animators, digital filmmakers, developers and computer artists from the world's top institutions of higher education.

“The World Through Ana’s Eyes” consists of 64 original photos taken exclusively by the artist. Mrs. Meluso incorporates this particular artwork in her classroom when she teaches and demonstrates all the necessary tools to complete a successful photomontage.

“I was thrilled to be considered for a top award in this prestigious competition," Meluso said. "‘The World Through Ana’s Eyes’ has always been a favorite of my Computer Graphics students, especially when they learn how many photographs were needed and how many selection processes I went through to achieve the final result.”

Mr. Timothy Craig, Director of Fine and Performing Arts in the Bayonne Public Schools, said, “It comes as no surprise to me that Charlann's work has been selected for the Adobe Design and Achievement Awards. Charlann is a gifted artist whose passion for art has inspired her students, friends and family.”

“The World Through Ana’s Eyes” will be one of the many artworks on display at The Art Circle of Bayonne Members Show/Sale at the Bayonne Community Museum, 229 Broadway, Bayonne, NJ from Sept. 21 – 29, 2012.
