Junior League of Summit's Annual Holiday Boutique Is Now Open

Holiday Boutique features new, gently-used items and are usually 50 percent less than full retail cost. Funds benefit League's grants, programs, scholarships.

Second Time Around, the thrift shop operated by the Junior League of Summit and located at 37 DeForest Ave., is excited to announce its annual Holiday Boutique.

The Holiday Boutique, which began Thursday, features new and gently used men’s, women’s, and children’s holiday items, as well as seasonal decorations. The Boutique will be open Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For many families, this year’s holiday season will be a time of both struggle and hope. With the recent hurricane affecting much of our community, The Holiday Boutique is set to offer families and individuals an affordable shopping experience for their loved ones in order to make this holiday season as special as it has always been.

This year’s Holiday Boutique features new clothing and toys, as well as seasonal decorations to make your home sparkle. The Shop will also carry gently used holiday items and clothing, perfect for cheering up any old Grinch! Whether you are looking for a special gift for your family or friends, or the perfect trinket for the kids, Second Time Around has just what you need. Prices are typically 50 percent less than full retail cost and the selection will be extensive with plenty of variety for adults and kids. There are some great buys under $15.

“With the recent hurricane, many families may find themselves with limited resources this holiday season,” said Junior Leave of Summit President Heather Speas, “We hope that Second Time Around can provide our community with some affordable options for their holiday shopping. This is a special time of year for many families, and we understand that this year may be even more
challenging. At Second Time Around, you are supporting the local community, as all of the Shop’s proceeds go directly back to the Junior League and are reinvested in the form of grants, funding for community projects, and scholarships.”

New this season: extended holiday shopping hours! Second Time Around will be extending hours on Fridays from 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., beginning on Nov. 30 and continuing until Dec. 21.

Second Time Around Thrift Shop in Summit was established in 1934 and offers new and gently used clothing and shoes for men, women and children, toys, decorative items for the home, house wares and furniture that is deeply discounted. It is the primary fundraiser for the Junior League of Summit and has provided the resources for the League’s many grants, projects,
programs and scholarships over the years. Since its inception, the Shop has raised more than $3,000,000 to benefit Summit and surrounding communities. Second Time Around is one of only two thrift shops in New Jersey featured in the book, True Prep. The Shop accepts MC, Visa, and debit cards.

The Junior League of Summit is a nonprofit, charitable and educational organization of women who are committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
