The Paul Jackson Fund will host a Party Dress Sale for teens on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at St. Helen’s Church from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
Mary Doherty, director of development for The Fund, said approximately 200 dresses, ranging in styles and sizes, will be available. They are priced between $15 and $30, with all proceeds from this fundraiser benefitting The Paul Jackson Fund, which provides financial support to families in crisis because of a catastrophic illness or disability.
"We have dresses that still have the tags on them and others that are gently-used," said Doherty, who noted that nine private fitting rooms will be available. To avoid long waits, there will be a general fitting room area as well, which she likened to those found at Loehmann's, and suggested girls who don't want to wait for a private room, consider wearing bathing suits under their clothes.
"We really want girls to have an opportunity to buy a beautiful dress and go to their event regardless of economic status," Doherty explained.
The Fund began collecting dresses last May and June in order to offer the girls a wide selection. Many of the dresses have been donated through The Paul Jackson Fund Club at Westfield High School, the Westfield Y, Mount St. Mary's and Colt's Neck High School. St. Helen's generously donated the space for the sale, Doherty said.
"This is a feel-good event," she added. "It's a great community service project and our volunteers have worked very hard. For those who have donated dresses that are special to them, they know that someone will put it to good use and appreciate it."
Doherty said the Fund is interested in borrowing rolling racks and mirrors for the event. Anyone who can lend them for the afternoon sale can contact Doherty at 908-233-6110.
