Photo Gallery: Families Come Together for Trout Fishing Derby

The New Providence P.B.A. and New Providence Department of Recreation co-sponsored the Trout Fishing Derby at Oakwood Park this weekend.

The New Providence P.B.A. Local #132 and the New Providence Department of Recreation hosted the annual on Saturday at Oakwood Park.  Although the small lake was stocked with 160 fish, most participants had a tough time attracting any with their bait.

Participants ranged from hard-core fisherman using a variety of specialized baits to small children using their "Spiderman" or "Cars" fishing poles.

It took more than two hours before any of the larger fish were reeled in.  Kyle Apicella, 8, with the help of his father, John, rangled a 19-inch trout.  Kyle was awarded an iPod Touch after the catch and the fish was released into the nearby river.
