Star Of 'Police Academy' To Appear At Local Theater Tonight

Actor and comedian Steve Guttenberg will visit the Rialto Theater in Westfield for a screening and talk about his latest film.

Remember Steve Guttenberg? Think Cadet Carey Mahoney, the comical police recruit from "Police Academy," or Jack, the timid boat captain from "Cocoon." If you were a fan of the 80s movie star, you may want to pay a visit to the Rialto Theater in Westfield tonight, where Guttenberg will be speaking to an audience and promoting his latest film.

A showing of the independent film "A Novel Romance," featuring an introduction by director Allie Dvorin and a talk by Guttenberg, is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Rialto, 250 East Broad St., Westfield. Doors open at 7 p.m.

According to IMDB, an online movie database, "A Novel Romance" is the story of budding novelist Nate Shepherd - who is in his late 40s - and the young and beautiful Jenny Sparks, early 30s, as they meet in a fancy New York eatery.

The showing at the Rialto is part of the Digiplex Independent Film Series featuring films shown pre-release, ahead of national distribution at the Digiplex Rialto Theater. DIFS screenings feature prominent area film critics and film experts, along with talent or production staff from each film.
