New Providence high school students will head back to school Sept. 4 and see the completed Lieder Field project, a six-year effort that culminated this summer.
“It took a total community effort to get it where it is now,” Superintendent David Miceli told the Independent Press.
Turf was installed in 2007, and bleacher work was finished this year to create a “definitely enhanced” Lieder Field.
Funding came from community donations, with the New Providence Athletic Foundation sponsoring volunteer efforts to raise funds without taxpayer impact.
New Providence students also will notice “subtle” upgrades, such as minor renovations to classrooms at all the schools, the Independent Press reported
