Banners to Trumpet Downtown New Providence Businesses
Promotional materials going up on 40 light posts.
An effort is underway to greet shoppers with banners throughout the downtown New Providence business district.
Five different banners will be rotated among 40 light posts, with “Welcome to New Providence” and “New Providence Business” banners hung year-round. The balance of the banners will display seasonal greetings, the Alternative Press reported.
The banner placement is an effort of the Downtown Improvement District and the New Providence Business and Professional Association. They were designed by resident Barbara Singer and Different by Design, a marketing firm.

Jimmy Vardas, president of the Downtown Improvement District, told the Alternative Press the “banners will provide a boost to existing business owners as well as attract new merchants to the downtown area.
“Our goal is to make the downtown look better and encourage people to shop, dine and discover New Providence,” Vardas said.
