Berkeley Heights Resident Barbara Herrmann, RN to be Honored at HTCNJ Gala

Barbara Herrmann, RN, a registered nurse who resides in Berkeley Heights, will be honored on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Healing the Children® New Jersey's 33rd Annual Gala & Awards Ceremony.  The event will be held at Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.  1450 Talk Radio WCTC’s on-air personality Bert Baron will serve as Emcee.

Healing the Children® New Jersey was founded in 1981 and provides access to medical care and related services for children in need in New Jersey and worldwide.  Ms. Herrmann will be presented with The Jhansi Chowdary Nurse of the Year Award, traditionally conferred upon a nurse who displays outstanding humanitarian qualities.

Ms. Herrmann travels overseas on volunteer pediatric surgical trips as part of the charity's Medical Teams Abroad program.  Since 2007, Ms. Herrmann has volunteered with HTCNJ in Ecuador, Thailand and Peru.  HTCNJ Executive Director Pamela DePompo stated, "Ms. Herrmann is a caring and conscientious nurse and vital member of our Medical Teams Abroad Program.  In addition to serving in the Operating Room, she volunteers on weekends to sort, pack and unpack donated medical and surgical supplies and equipment.”

Ms. Herrmann is a Staff Registered Nurse, Operating Room at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey.  She is a member of Association of periOperative Registered Nurses, American Society of Plastic Surgical Nurses, and University of Delaware Nursing Alumni Association.  Ms. Herrmann earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware.
