Are You Ready For Some Snowfall?

The National Weather Service is predicting snow this weekend. What, if anything, are you doing to prepare?

With the exception of the that blanketed the region in late October, causing trees and to fall and making the roads treacherous, New Jersey has had a pretty mild winter. But that could change this weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Union County that will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

According to the NWS website, "A winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties" such as snow-covered roads and limited visibility when driving. In the northern and western portions of the state, such as Sussex, Warren, Morris, Passaic, Bergen and Essex counties, a winter storm watch is in place. Snow accumulations in those areas could be anywhere from 4 to 8 inches.

On top of the anticipated snowfall, temperatures tonight are expected to be in the 20s, rising to the mid-30s by tomorrow afternoon, which means that any accumulations will not likely melt right away. By Monday, however, the unseasonably warm temperatures will return, as the temps reach the 50s.
