 2013 Winter Recreation Programs: Look for our 2013 Winter Program Booklet on the township website:www.berkeleyheightstwp.com (click on the recreation drop-down).    Programs will begin on Wednesday, January 2, 2013.  For further information you may stop by the Recreation office or contact us by phone at 908-464-0550.   

NPARC-The Amateur Radio Club for Watchung Hills Area:  Presents “Ham Radio KIDS DAY” on Sunday January 6, 2013 at Berkeley Heights Community Center from 2-5 pm.  It's a chance for kids of all ages to operate a Ham Radio Station and speak to kids from all over the USA, Canada or the world.  For information call:  Barry Cohen 908-464-1730 or Paul Campano 908-508-9595 or go to www.nparc.org.

GL Highlander Booster Club Fantastic Friday/Saturday:  Save the date January 11-12, 2013!  Two days filled with sporting events, team tables, Highlander market, raffles, a magic show and other activities. There will be pizza Friday night and a pancake breakfast on Saturday.  Tickets are $5 each or buy 5 tickets for $20 and $4 for children. Westminster Nursery School Open House:  Saturday, January 12, from 10am to noon, all families are welcome to Westminster Open House for those interested in learning more about programs for ages 2 ½ - 4 years old and Kindergarten Enrichment.  In the event of inclement weather, you may view the website atwww.westminsternurseryschool.org after 7:30am.  For additional information you may contact the Director at 908-464-4880.

GL Environmental Club:  The GL Environmental Club is sponsoring Styrofoam Recycling on Saturday, January 19th from 9am – 12 noon at the Recreation Building.  Clean Styrofoam (no tape – no food) will be accepted and should be placed in clear plastic bags.  For additional information you may contact Marlene Sincaglia at (908) 464-1988.

Blood Drive at YMCA:  On January 20 from 10am-3pm Berkeley Heights YMCA will be sponsoring a Blood Drive.  For additional information you may reach Tiffany Escott at (908) 464-8373.

Chiefs Lacrosse Registration:  Chiefs Lacrosse has begun on line registration which you may access atwww.chiefslacrossenj.org.  Registration will run until January 22, and late registration till January 24, 2013.

The Spring Travel Team Season is open to boys grades 3-8 residing in Berkeley Heights, New Providence and Mountainside.  Chiefs Lacrosse will also be offering a lacrosse clinic for boys in grades 1-3 Spring 2013. “The Big Quiz Thing”:  The Berkeley Heights Education Foundation, along with its Partner in Education The Connell Company, invite you to put your useless knowledge to work at The Big Quiz Thing, a multimedia live trivia game show on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013.  Admission is $50 per person.  For more information about the event and to purchase tickets, please go to www.Bhef.info.  Please note, attendees must be 21 or older.

Kindergarten Registration:  Kindergarten registration for 2013-2014 school year begins January 23-25 & 28-29.  The district will also be accepting applications in January for its Preschool Program for the 2013-2014 school year.  Please visit the school district website at www.bhpsnj.org for further information.

BEEFSTEAK DINNER:  Little Flower Parish will hold a Beefsteak Dinner on Friday, Feb. 8 at Mt. Carmel Hall in Berkeley Heights from 7:30-11:30pm.  The cost per person for this “all you can eat” event is $40.  For more details and to purchase tickets, please contact Kerry Blasch at 908-322-6426.

Newcomer’s Club:  The Newcomer’s Club of Summit, New Providence and Berkeley Heights is not just for Newcomer’s!  A variety of monthly and ongoing events such as Couple’s Nights, Meet & Greets, Ladies Nights, Moms & Tots, Book Club and playgroups are offered.  For more information please go to www.njnewcomersclub.com.
