Community Access Unlimited Member Celebrates 100th Birthday

Alphonsina Bardino celebrated with friends and staff last week.

 

Alphonsina Bardino, a member of Community Access Unlimited (CAU), celebrated her 100th birthday last week, along with friends, fellow CAU members and agency staff. 

Bardino is a person with intellectual disabilities who has lived independently her entire adult life and currently is a member of CAU’s Supervised Apartment Program.

Born in Italy, Bardino was brought to the United States by her parents while in diapers. During her 100 years she has sang in the choir and played the organ, worked for the Salvation Army and Occupational Center of Essex County, lost a husband in World War II and been reunited with her long-separated brother.

Just recently Bardino discovered traveling and, now in her second century, is planning a trip to Italy.
