Diversity Committee of New Providence Hosts 1st Annual Dinner

Dinner featured fare from many countries around the world, a presentation from Committee Chairman, and stories from attendees about their journeys to the U.S. from their homelands.

On the cool fall evening of Nov. 12, more than thirty people gathered at the to enjoy the 1st Annual Diversity Dinner, hosted by the Diversity Committee of New Providence.

The event was a wonderful opportunity for the attendees to share different ethnic, cultural and national cuisine, and to develop new friendships with other folks in town. The scrumptious fare brought by those in attendance featured appetizers, entrees, salads and desserts from India, Poland, Italy, Korea, Ireland and the U.S., to name a few.

The event was made extra special by a few students from the band that provided the musical entertainment for the evening.

Harb Nayar, Chairman of the Diversity Committee, delivered a wonderful presentation that described the Committee’s mission and plans for future programs that would embrace and feature the diversity within New Providence.

Numerous people in attendance took the opportunity to speak about their personal journey to the United States from their homeland.  It was interesting to note that while the group was diverse, the journey most had were fairly similar.
