Editor's Notebook: Girls' Basketball Team Is On Fire

Lady Pioneers defeated Hillside, Jonathan Dayton and Roselle Catholic this week, extending their winning streak to seven straight games.

The New Providence girls’ varsity basketball team continued its winning streak with three games this week. The Lady Pioneers , 81-42 on Tuesday where Cassandra Squeri, one of , led the team’s offensive assault with 25 points on 9-for-18 shooting, while Kaitlin Cresencia had 14 points and six boards, and Laura Gregory had 12 points. On Thursday, the Lady Pioneers were matched up against Jonathan Dayton, a team with a 13-game winning streak. The Lady Pioneers were paced by Cassandra Squeri, who had a team-high 15 points, Laura Gregory, who totaled 13 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, three assists and a steal, and Emma Culleton, who added 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals. Against Roselle Catholic last night, Cassandra Squeri had a team-high 13 points and Kaitlyn Cresencia added 11 points as New Providence won its seventh straight game and snapped Roselle Catholic's 15-game winning streak.
