Famous Berkeley Heights Home for Sale

Former Yankee Steve Balboni home for sale.

A notable Berkeley Heights home is now on the market.

On the Tour of Notable Homes earlier this year, the home of former major league baseball player and current San Francisco Giants scout, Steve Balboni is up for sale.

The Victorian-style home, which is located on the corner of Murray Hill Boulevard and Burlington Road, was built around 1860 and has been home to five families since it was built. Overall, the home has had seven owners since its inception, including an investment firm that tried twice to turn it into a golf course to no avail.

This year, said Balboni’s wife Eve, seemed like perfect timing for the family to showcase the house after having the suggestion made by the same man who designed the family’s recently-added portico.

Steve and his wife Eve have considered selling the house for some time. "It’s a great old house," said Eva Balboni, a jewelry designer. "The previous homeowners in 1976 put it on a house tour years ago.”

Eve enjoyed putting the house on the tour earlier this year.

Preparing the house for the tour itself has been enjoyable for Mrs. Balboni, who has added her own flair to each room for all guests to enjoy on the tour.

“Getting ready for it was really kind of fun,” said Balboni. “The house, as always, is in good shape, but I just did little, fun things in different rooms upstairs to make it look really good.”

The home has a very rich history and is sited on 1.50 acres.  The residence was once the Summit Golf Club and later the Murray Hill Golf Club. The Balboni family has lived in Berkeley Heights for over 19 years and are great supporters of the community.
