Five Things You Need To Know Today: August 7

Today, there will be a blood drive in Chatham, an Estate Sale in Westfield, and a Peace Arts Fair in Cranford.

1. Today, there will be an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at the Christ Church of Summit, located at 561 Springfield Avenue in Summit, beginning at 7:15 a.m. Meetings are held every Sunday morning for free, are non-smoking and handicap accessible.

2. There is a blood drive today at the Corpus Christi Parish, located at 234 Southern Blvd. in Chatham, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. All are encouraged to donate, as blood supplies in the area are limited.

3. The Union County Peace Council is holding it's 8th Annual Peace Arts Fair today from noon until 6 p.m. at Eastman Plaza Clock Park, located on North Avenue in Cranford, in memory of peace and community activist Leigh Davis. The fair will feature local artists, poets, musicians and speakers, including: Hazy Jane, The Tee Wee, Nick Conte, Spook Handy, The Solidarity Singers, Mike Kirk, Halima the Henna Lady, The Striped Bananas, Larry Hamm (Peoples Organization for Progress), Better Blue (John Kennedy of Steeel Woool), Rob Romano, You're Beat!

4. There will be an Estate Sale at 910 Everts Avenue in Westfield today, beginning at 9 a.m. Items for sale to include living room furniture, glass end tables, lamps, a dining room set-table with six chairs, a china closet and more. All are welcome to attend.

5. Today, Temple Sha’arey Shalom, located at 78 South Springfield Avenue in Springfield, is hosting a giant rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to benefit the Temple’s programs and services.
