Five Things You Need To Know Today: June 2

The girls' softball team will play for the sectional title, the shared municipal court will meet, and the library will host a reading group.

1. The girls' varsity softball team will compete in the North 2, Group I State Tournament Final today at Whippany Park High School. The game will begin at 4 p.m.

2. The Berkeley Heights and New Providence Shared Municipal Court will convene in the Municipal Center at 3 p.m. today.

3. The New Providence Memorial Library Thursday evening reading group will meet at 7:30 p.m. to discuss "The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" by Jamie Ford, to be moderated by Doris Parmett.

4. Tomorrow, The Midtown Wine Merchant, located at 55 Bank Street in Morristown, will host a Wine Tasting Fundraiser to benefit Operation Bling Foundation from 6 to 9 p.m.. Appetizers will be provided by Cafe Beethoven and music will be provided by a four piece flute ensemble. "Bling Gifts" will be available for sale at the foundation's Bling Boutique. Tickets are $45 in advance and can be purchased at Ferdinand Jewelers in New Providence, Midtown Wine Merchants in Morristown, or Cafe Beethoven in Chatham. Tickets at the door are $55 each.

5. The Community Service Association and New Providence Business and Professional Association are teaming up to host the 5th annual Car Show Fundraiser this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Academy Street. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. and motorcycles are also invited to attend. The rain date is scheduled for June 12.
