Got Shore Pix? Enter 'The Shore Restored' Contest

Congressman Frank Pallone holds contest for the best post-Sandy restoration pictures of the Jersey shore areas of Sandy Hook, Belmar and Asbury Park.

Are you a shutterbug on weekends? Do you love to stroll down to the closer points of the Jersey Shore and take pictures?

You might want to enter them in "The Shore Restored" contest, being sponsored by Congressman Frank Pallone who represents the Sixth District. His constituents include residents of Sandy Hook, Belmar, and Asbury Park - all areas hard hit by Hurricane Sandy.

You needn't be a Sixth District resident to enter, but pictures must be of Jersey towns in that area.

The winning photos will capture the spirit of the Jersey Shore restored after Sandy, the congressman said in a release, and will be displayed as Pallone's new Facebook cover photo.

“We still have a long way to go before all the homeowners and businesses impacted by Sandy are rebuilt and repaired, but we can celebrate the substantial progress we’ve made at the Shore,” said Pallone in a statement.  “I’m excited to see all the photo submissions, and I’m confident that New Jerseyans and visitors will be back to the Shore this summer to again enjoy all the places they have known and loved.”

The rebuilding process after Sandy is not nearly complete, but the quintessential Jersey shore trademarks are open for business.  Sandy Hook’s beaches have opened for the summer along with most of the shore beaches. The Asbury Park and Belmar boardwalks were reopened this month with celebrations and fanfare.

Photos must be pictures of the 6th Congressional District, and submissions will be accepted until Labor Day, September 2, 2013.  To submit a photo, post it to Congressman Pallone’s official Facebook wall: www.facebook.com/RepFrankPallone and indicate where the photo was taken.
