Dream Cars Discussed at NP Library Open House on Saturday

Paul Ingrassia will speak about his book Engines of Change: A History of the American Dream in Fifteen Cars on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Saturday looks to be a washout with thundershowers forecast throughout the day.

Not great for the pool, but it's the perfect weather to enjoy the Open House.

The work of the students in the New Providence Recreation Art Class will be on display in the Library, with work from artists Beth Herman, Afsaneh Niazmand, Katherine Woo Smith and Elizabeth A. Spiegel.

Also, author Paul Ingrassia will speak about his book Engines of Change: A History of the American Dream in Fifteen Cars on Saturday at 3:30 during the Library’s Open House. One of the nation’s most eloquent and impassioned car fans, Ingrassia offers a wondrous epic in fifteen automobiles, including the VW Beetle, Robert McNamara and Lee Iacocca’s Mustang, the Pontiac GTO, Honda’s Accord, the BMW 3 Series, the Jeep, and more. A favorite chapter is the Mustang – built on a Ford Falcon chassis. Find out what make the Mustang the right car at the right time as Ingrassia takes listeners on a fun romp through iconic automobiles and their significance in our lives.
