New Providence OEM: Refrain From Calling About Power Outages

Office of Emergency Management said JCP&L has been notified about outages. Travel ban is also in effect, trees reported down on South and Maple Streets.

The New Providence Office of Emergency Management is urging all residents to refrain from calling the New Providence Police Department about the current power outages.

The Code Red Alert message sent this morning stated that JCP&L has been notified of the outages.

"Stay at your current location as an emergency declaration is still in effect," according to the message.

The message also stated that the New Providence Fire Department is not currently able to help with basement pumpings and are only responding to turn off the utilities. OEM will contact residents with any update, if there is one.

Also, the travel ban is still in effect in New Providence.

A New Providence Police officer said a tree is down on South Street and another on Maple Street in New Providence, but Office of Emergency Management is doing everything they can.
