Newly-Renovated Courts Equals Increased Borough Adult Tennis Programs

New Providence Tennis Association will offer programs this Fall at the newly-resurfaced and renovated courts. From beginner through seasoned, all players are invited to participate.

The New Providence Community Activities Department is pleased to announce the formation of the New Providence Tennis Association.

The NPTA encourages any adult interested in playing tennis to come and see what tennis in New Providence is all about.  By joining one of the new programs to be offered this Fall at the newly-resurfaced and renovated courts, all players, from beginner through seasoned, will find an opportunity to enhance their game and be introduced to a new community of players.

The offerings for Fall include a "Get Acquainted” outing, which will take place on three Sunday afternoons, Sept. 18, 25 and Oct. 2, from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.  All adults are invited to participate in a one-hour skills clinic followed by an hour of round robin doubles play.  Come to one or come to all; adult players welcome from beginner and up with no advance registration.  There is no fee for this clinic.

Our Women’s Doubles League, beginning its fourth season, will continue with a Fall session.  The matches will be played Thursday evenings, Sept. 15 – Oct. 13, from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.  Sign-ups are going on now through our website. The league consists of 12 doubles teams competing in timed, full-set matches over five weeks.

New playing opportunities will be added as interest and membership grows.  We’re looking into starting a Men’s Doubles League in the near future.  Please look for more detailed information on the New Providence website; information regarding program schedules and registration is posted there.
