The JCC of Central New Jersey’s Project A.L.I.V.E. will host the 3rd Annual Come A.L.I.V.E. in the Community

An inspirational day of community service for teens.

On Sunday, April 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Project A.L.I.V.E. will host its 3rd annual day of service for teens at several different community locations.  Project A.L.I.V.E., which stands for Allliance, Leadership, Involvement, Volunteerism, Energy, brings together nine 9th graders from the Jewish Community Center of Central NJ and nine high school freshmen from the I Have a Dream program at Plainfield High School. These students work together and form connections by participating in programs that teach them to be responsible, involved and active adolescents in their respective communities.

This day of service, which the Project A.L.I.V.E. team has coordinated, is an ideal way for all local teens to share the same lessons as the Project A.L.I.V.E. group and to give back to their community. Teens from diverse backgrounds and schools will have the option to visit Children’s Specialized Hospital, volunteer at food drives outside of ShopRite and A&P, assist in the Salvation Army soup kitchen, help clean up the Watchung Reservation trails, visit elderly in various area nursing homes and more.

Over the last two years, Come A.L.I.V.E. in the Community has been a great success.  Teens from Plainfield High School, Union Catholic High School, Westfield and Scotch Plains/Fanwood High Schools, Jonathan Dayton High School in Springfield and Watchung Hills Regional High School have all participated and worked together.
