The Week Ahead: Athletic Events, Borough Meetings and Prom Fashion Show

Here's a hot list of what's happening around the borough this week.

Monday

  • The New Providence High School PTSA is hosting the tonight at 6 p.m., featuring seniors from the Class of 2011 in tuxes from Coleman's and Dresses from Lord & Taylor and Ls Belle Boutique. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.
  • The Borough Council is holding a special session to discuss the 2011 operating budget at 7 p.m. in the 3rd Floor Conference Room of the . The council's agenda can be found on the borough website.
  • The Zoning Board is meeting at 8 p.m. in the Municipal Center.
  • The boys' freshman basketball team is hosting West Morris Central at 4 p.m.

  • The New Providence Board of Education is hosting a Superintendent Forum at 7 p.m. in the High School/Middle School Media Center. All are invited to attend this informal forum to become better informed about the . A second forum is scheduled for March 9 at 7 p.m.
  • The is hosting a Valentine's Luncheon & Party from noon to 3 p.m. The cost is $13 per person.

Thursday

  • The boys' basketball teams will play at Roselle Catholic today. The freshman team will play at 4 p.m., junior varsity at 5:30 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.
  • The girls' freshman basketball team will host Bayonne at 4 p.m.
  • The girls' junior varsity and varsity basketball teams will host Jonathan Dayton. JV will play at 5:30 p.m. and varsity will tip off at 7 p.m.
  • The Board of Education is holding a work session at 8 p.m. in the High School/Middle School Media Center.
  • The New Providence Business & Professional Association will host a Legislative Forum with Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz, Assemblyman Jon Bramnick and Senator Tom Kean Jr. at 6 p.m. at the NJ Sharing Network. Register by emailing communications@npbpa.com. 
  • Thirteen students from the New Providence Middle School and High School have advanced to the national finals for the , achieving a regional Gold Key award. Their work will be on display at the Montclair Art Museum and will be honored at a standing-room-only award ceremony at 7 p.m. in the Museum's large assembly room.
