The Week Ahead: St. Patrick's Day, Tournament of Champions and Spring Sports Kickoff Season

Here's a rundown of what's happening around the borough this week.

Monday

  • Congratulations go out to the girls' varsity basketball team for defeating Haddon Township in the State Group Finals yesterday, 50-40.
  • The Borough Council will meet at 7 p.m. in the Municipal Center.
  • The boys’ varsity baseball team will host Essex County Vocational in at scrimmage at 4 p.m.
  • The girls’ varsity softball team will host Ridge High School in a scrimmage at 4 p.m.
  • The New Providence United Methodist Church is hosting its weekly Re-Employment Seminar at 7:30 p.m., which will focus on advanced interviewing skills.

Tuesday

  • The girls' varsity basketball team will play St. John Vianney in the Tournament of Champions at the Poland Springs Arena in Toms River. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
  • The New Providence Alliance is meeting at the Murray Hill Inn at 7 p.m.
  • The New Providence Memorial Library is screening the movie “Wall Street” at 2 p.m. in the Conti Family Meeting Room.
  • The boys’ varsity baseball team will play at Middlesex High School at 4 p.m. in a scrimmage.
  • The New Providence Memorial Library Board of Trustees will meet at 7:30 p.m.
  • The girls’ varsity lacrosse team will play at JP Stevens in a scrimmage at 4 p.m.
  • The boys’ varsity lacrosse team will host JP Stevens in a scrimmage at 4 p.m.
  • The New Providence Memorial Library is hosting “Career Resilience, Networking and Strategies” at 7:30 p.m. Lisa Chenofsky-Singer, a Professional Career Coach, will host the program, which is for those individuals who are already employed and looking for ways to keep their jobs.

  • The Senior Citizens Center is hosting a St. Patrick’s Dinner with entertainment provided by Ted O’Connel and traditional Irish food. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance at the center.
  • The girls’ varsity softball team will play at Elmwood Park High School at 4 p.m. in a scrimmage.
  • The Summit Jewish Community Center is sponsoring a lecture series at the New Providence Memorial Library at 9:15 a.m. today. Visit the library’s website for more information.

Thursday

  • Happy St. Patrick's Day!
  • The boys’ varsity baseball team will play at Summit High School in a scrimmage at 4 p.m.
  • The girls’ varsity softball team will host Verona High School in a scrimmage at 4 p.m.
  • The boys’ varsity lacrosse team will host Verona High School in a scrimmage at 4 p.m.
  • The girls’ varsity lacrosse team will play at Verona High School at 4 p.m. in a scrimmage.
  • St. Andrews Episcopalian Church is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day FUNraiser at 6 p.m. with traditional St. Patrick's Day food and music, a silent auction and a few surprises. Admission is $15 per person. Soft drinks will be provided, but you can bring your own beverages.

  • Tonight, sixth grade students at Salt Brook Elementary School are organizing and running a Pasta Dinner.

Saturday
