Arts Guild New Jersey is offering four intensive one-day art workshops for adults this winter, two on Saturday February 23 and two on Saturday March 9.
Workshop Selections on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 10:00 AM — 2:00 PM
BOTANICAL ART IN WATERCOLOR with Ruth Tietjen Councell
Working directly from live plant specimens, participants will hone their drawing skills and learn the secrets of the English watercolor technique to make beautiful botanical paintings. Some drawing and watercolor experience are helpful.
DYNAMIC FIGURE DRAWING AND ANATOMY with Julian Tejera
Intended for students with some life drawing experience, this workshop will focus on better seeing, and accurately capturing on paper, the gesture of the model. Students will learn to exaggerate and enhance the pose. Demos addressing anatomical construction will support a better grasp of the mechanics of the human body.
Workshop Selections on Saturday, March 9, 2013 10:00 AM — 2:00 PM
DRAWING THE HUMAN PORTAIT with Julian Tejera
Capturing the likeness of a person is every figurative artist's greatest and most
rewarding challenge. Knowing the structure and proportions of the face not only helps one successfully draw a portrait, but also imbue it with personality. This workshop will focus on creating a unique interpretation of a model that is true to life but also true to an artist’s vision.
THE ART OF PASTEL with Anne Kullaf
Working with both hard and soft pastels on sanded paper, students will learn basic techniques for layering color in a spontaneous and expressive manner. Emphasis will be placed on form, value, proportion, perspective, and color harmony. Students will work from a set up provided by the instructor.
All four Arts Guild NJ workshops will take place from 10 AM – 2 PM in the Senior Center Annex at 125 West Milton Avenue on the corner of Esterbrook and Milton Avenues in Rahway. Each workshop costs $95.00. For more information, please access the online course catalog at www.agnj.org (Art Classes page) or call (732) 381-7511.
