The Union County Republican Women Celebrate Martha Washington's Birthday

The Union County Republican Women are planning a champagne birthday celebration for our nations 1st First Lady, Martha Washington. Taking their inspiration for the event's theme from a computerized age regression portrait showing Martha in her twenties and an article that appeared in the Washington Post the UCRW desired to celebrate her as the slim and lively brown haired woman who captivated a future revolutionary hero and president and not the dowdy, dowager matron most Americans have imagined for more than 200 years.

The "Lady Washington Party" will celebrate Martha's 280th birthday and take place at the Trap Rock Restaurant in Berkeley Heights on Thursday, June 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The program will feature a short reading about "The Martha Washington You Didn't Know" followed by a champagne toast to the remarkable "Lady Washington"; Hors D'Oeuvres will be served. Guests are encouraged to wear their fanciest string of pearls to be entered to receive a surprise gift. Tickets are $70 each checks should be payable to the UCRW and sent c/o Julie Diddell, 411 Elm Street, Westfield, New Jersey 07090 For additional information call Ms Diddell at 908-917-4706.
