Beat Goes On for New Providence Marching Band

Group continues successful season with performances at competitions and weekly football games.

The New Providence High School marching band has begun another successful season that includes stops at MetLife Stadium, several competitions and performances at the high school football games.

The band's field show this year is "Earth," featuring "Tapestry of Nations" (from Disney's EPCOT Millennium celebration), Bobby McFerrin’s “Wailers," Michael Jackson’s “Earthsong" and “Chaos and Majesty."

The marching band performs at all home football games and most away games. The band also participates in competitions at MetLife Stadium for the Yamaha Cup, two local competitions, state championships and the national championship.

The band is led by Drum Majors Katie Canete (’14) and Dorothy Qu (’15). Captains are David Colby (’14 - Brass), Mary Kate Grimes and Sarah Clowes Walker (‘14 - Color Guard), Mark Sullivan and Dan Patel (’14 - Drums), and Natalie Barrett (’14 - Woodwinds).  Adrienne Cirrott i(’14), Jonathan Sales (’14), Emily Pooley (’14), Will Roper (’15) and Kevin Urness (’15) are Sergeants-At-Arms this season.

The band recently held a successful shake-the-can fundraising event that went toward the purchase of equipment, flags, uniforms and instruments.
