Locals Turn to Crowd Funding to Help New Providence Amputee

Adrienne's Angels is a GoFundMe campaign to raise $12,000 to cover the costs of a prosthetic leg.

Friends and family of a New Providence woman hope the kindness of strangers on the Internet will help raise the money needed for a prosthetic leg following an amputation earlier this year.

The Adrienne's Angels campaign on Go Fund Me is trying to raise $12,000 to cover medical costs associated with the dozen surgeries the 44 year old has undergone since April after a stent in her leg caused a blood clot to form.

The campaign is part of the growing trend of people using crowd funding sources like Go Fund Me to raise money for everything from medical bills to a honeymoon to a cheerleading squad's trip to Orlando.

So far, the campaign has raised $1,345 since it was launched last month.
