Miss NJ Gets Crafty With Patients at Children's Specialized Hospital

Patients Decorate Jeans to Promote National Miracle Jeans Day, Sept. 12

New Jersey pageant royalty joined patients at PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick on Friday, Aug. 31 to decorate jeans in honor of National Miracle Jeans Day.

On Wednesday, Sept. 12, employees from businesses around the state will wear jeans to donate money and support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a national charity that raises funds for children’s hospitals.

New Jersey title holders joined 20 children to decorate jeans with fabric paint and glitter, including: Lindsey Petrosh, Miss New Jersey 2012; Anna Negron, Miss South Shore Area 2013; Alyssa Sullivan, Miss South Shore Area's Outstanding Teen 2013; Lindsey Giannini, Miss Gloucester County 2012; Yulemni Morel, Miss Eastern Shore Outstanding Teen 2013.

Children’s Specialized Hospital, the nation’s largest provider of rehabilitative care for children with special needs, is the northern and central New Jersey beneficiary. But a national network of supporters will also go casual for kids and individually donate to make a difference in the lives of children throughout their communities.

Miracle Jeans Day was created by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as a fun way for companies and employees to support their local children’s hospital. Participating organizations encourage employees to purchase a sticker, button or a pin for $5, $10 or $20, allowing them to wear jeans to work on Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Kate Davis, Children's Miracle Network program manager at Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation, says Miracle Jeans Day is a simple and fantastic way to shed light on the work that’s being done and importance of children’s hospitals.

"Each and every one of our kids is a true champion,” Davis said. “We're just so thrilled to see leaders in the community putting on their jeans, recognizing and celebrating the miracles happening here."

Since its beginning in 2009, Miracle Jeans Day has raised more than $2.5 million across North America for the 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

About Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada, which, in turn, use the money where it’s needed the most. When a donation is given it stays in the community, helping local kids. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $4 billion, most of it $1 at a time. These donations have gone to support research and training, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care, all in support of our mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
