Student Journalists Sought for Short-Term Internships

Ten high school students will be chosen to work with professionals for a three-day journalism internship in January.

Berkeley Aquatic Club (BAC), a USA Swimming Club in Berkeley Heights, and Swimming World Magazine, an international swimming publication and leading swimming website have teamed up to give students a chance to try journalism, photography and videographer firsthand.

Ten students from local high schools will be chosen to participate in a three-day journalism internship, according to a BAC release.

BAC will be hosting the CereVe Invitational Berkeley Aquatic Club 2014 Winter Long Course Meet, their annual meet at Rutgers in Piscataway on Jan. 10 through Jan. 12.

Swimming World Magazine is looking for interns who will help during the live Internet feed they will provide throughout the meet. The interns will work closely with professionals during the meet to provide live articles, interviews and video.

Students interested in the chance to work with trained professionals can apply for the internship by submitting a one-paragraph essay due by Dec. 1.

The essay can be mailed to Eileen Sharkey, Journalism Internship Contest, Berkeley Aquatic Club, P.O. Box 215, Berkeley Heights, NJ 07922. For more information, email Eileen Sharkey at esharkey3@verizon.net.
