Pioneers' Football Team Defeats Highlanders 30-20 in Annual Thanksgiving Game

Town rivals battle for bragging rights and prize turkey leg.

In the annual Thanksgiving Day game played at New Providence High School, the Pioneers Football Team beat the Governor Livingston Highlanders 30-20.

The Pioneers were led by runningback Derek Singer, who rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns to led the Pioneers over the Highlanders. 

The Pioneer defense held the Highlanders to two field goals in the first half. Also, C.J. Kliesch and Vinny Sidoli ran for the other two TDs to extend the lead in the 3rd quarter to 28-6.

The Highlanders came out in the 4th quarter and scored two TDs to bring the score to 28-20. Nick Iannacone and the defense came up with a safety to end the scoring and seal the victory.

At the half-time show, the fans were treated to New Providence and Gov. Livingston's Marching Bands, who won competition awards this season.  Also, both schools' Cheerleading squads performed to the appreciative audience.
