Letter to the Editor: Thank You From New Providence PBA Local #132

Friends and Residents,

The New Providence PBA Local #132 would like to thank you for the cooperation and genuine graciousness showed to us by so many residents during the two week storm period. This storm was unprecedented and the resulting power outages, gasoline shortage, and property damage were difficult for us all to bear. I am aware of occasions where residents offered food and hot drinks, even dry gloves, to help us deal with the longer days and massive call volume.

Above all else, I commend the residents that empathized with our difficult situation of being a sworn protector of life and property while knowing our families were also struggling through the same ordeal without us being there for them. When asked to support the Jersey Shore area with essential donations, New Providence residents responded with, literally, a truckload full of items. We would like to thank you for your generosity and for being there for us when we need you. We also would like to extend special thanks to Sam Ferizi of Scotch Plains U-Haul for donating a rental truck to transport the donations and the Burkitt, Beckerman and Leiter families for offering to help us sort the items for delivery.
