Trespassing, criminal mischief highlight recent activity.

Here's the Berkeley Heights police blotter for February 21-28, 2011.

On Monday, February 21, 2011, Ptl. Andrew Glaydura responded to a Cedar Green Lane address to investigate a report of theft.  The investigation revealed that sometime during the overnight hours, an unknown party or parties stole the victim’s mailbox valued at approximately $42.00.

On Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 12:33 pm, Sgt. Bradley Countryman arrested Michael L. Brendzel, 62, of Millburn.  Sgt. Countryman was called to the Summit Medical Group property on Diamond Hill Road after Mr. Brendzel refused to leave the property after being advised by security that he was not authorized to be there.  Brendzel was brought to police headquarters, processed and charged with defiant trespass and harassment.  Brendzel was given a court date to appear in Berkeley Heights Municipal Court and released.

On Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 9:30 am, Ptl. Nicholas Franks arrested Lance B. Thompkins, 26, of Jersey City.  Thompkins was the operator of a 1995 Cadillac and was found to hold a no bail warrant out of Hudson County.  He was brought to police headquarters and charged with driving while suspended and driving without insurance.  Thompkins was then released into the custody of the Hudson County Sherriff’s Department.

On Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 8:29 pm, Ptl. Ron DeSimoni arrested Paul J. Turner, 31, of Avenel.  Turner was the operator of a motor vehicle that became disabled in a Diamond Hill Road resident’s driveway after he attempted to make a U-Turn.  A computer check revealed that he was found to hold a no bail warrant out of Union County.  Turner was brought to police headquarters, processed and released into the custody of the Union County Sheriff’s Department.

On Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 8:00 am, Ptl. Jason Massimino arrested Michael J. Schenck-Jones, 27, of Plainfield.  Schenck-Jones was the operator of a 2002 Dodge and was found to hold a warrant out of Fanwood in the amount of $382.00.  He was brought to police headquarters, processed and released after posting bail.

On Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 1:15 pm, Ptl. Michael Gallaro arrested Andrew M. Mullikin, 23, of Easton PA.  Mullikin was the operator of a 2004 Chevrolet and found to hold two outstanding warrants out of Phillipsburg in the amount of $984.00.  He was brought to police headquarters, processed and released into the custody of the Phillipsburg Police Department. 

On Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 10:00 pm, Ptl. Ron DeSimoni arrested Olivia F. Cronin, 18, of Berkeley Heights.  Cronin and a juvenile acquaintance were found in Columbia Park after Ptl. DeSimoni observed an unoccupied parked vehicle in the parking lot.  Further investigation revealed that Cronin was in possession of a smoking device with marijuana residue.  Cronin was brought to police headquarters and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.  She was then released after being given a court date to appear in Berkeley Heights Municipal Court.    

On Monday, February 28, 2011 three incidents of criminal mischief which occurred between the hours of 7:50 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. were reported to the Berkeley Heights Police Department:

A 2010 Lexus’ front passenger window was smashed in the train station parking lot

A 2006 Lexus’ front passenger window was smashed in the train station parking lot.

A 2009 Lexus’ side window was smashed in the parking lot of 100 Connell Drive.

All three incidents have been referred to the Investigations Division.
