Berkeley Heights Police: Drunk Driver Struck Street Sign

Police say woman driving under the influence was involved in single car accident.

Berkeley Heights Police say a Millington women was charged with a DUI after driving into a street sign. 

On Monday, Jan. 14, Sgt. Ed Ammerlaan and Ptl. William Fettes responded to the area of Springfield Avenue and Snyder Avenue to investigate a report of amotor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, they reportedly encountered Debra Petitti, 37, who they determined had driven a 2001 Honda under the influence of alcohol and was involved in a one car motor vehicle accident after striking a street sign.

The officers arrested Petitti and brought to police headquarters where she was processed. She was charged with reckless driving, driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit breath samples.

Petitti was given a date to appear in Berkeley Heights Municipal Court and released.
