BH Police Arrest Summit Man for DWI

The following arrest information was provided by the Berkeley Heights Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

On Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11:40 a.m., Sgt. Robert Deitch arrested Anthony Mitrione, 38, of Summit. 

Sgt. Deitch had received a report from police headquarters that a citizen was following an erratic driver from Glenside Avenue. The reporting party followed Mitrione after observing his 2012 Nissan leave the roadway and continued driving west towards Valley Road.

Sgt. Deitch was able to locate the vehicle on New Providence Road, at which time a motor vehicle stop was made. The subsequent investigation revealed that Mitrione was under the influence of a narcotic, at which time he was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. 

A urine sample was obtained and Mitrione was charged with careless driving, DWI, failure to observe a red light, and no driver’s license in possession.
