Brush Fire Causes Brief Closure on Summit Rd. in Mountainside

Main road to hospital to re-open by mid-afternoon

A small brush fire on the side of Summit Rd. in Mountainside caused a brief shutdown of the main artery which leads to Overlook Hospital.

According to Captain Richard Osieja of the Mountainside Police Department, the fire began in a pile of leaves but was quickly contained by the Mountainside Fire Department and was deemed under control just after 1:30 p.m.

There were no injuries reported. The county Department of Transportation was called in to salt the roadway so that the excess water would not freeze on the surface.
