Car Burglar Fled Murray Hill Station, Police Say

Witness spotted a man breaking into a car Tuesday evening.

New Providence police are searching for a man who was allegedly spotted trying to break into cars at the Murray Hill Railroad Station.

Police said a witness reported seeing a black male described as 5’11”, 200 pounds, wearing a green coat and skull cap, exit a silver Jeep Wrangler in the parking lot after 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The suspect fled the parking lot in a blue Jeep Wrangler as the silver Jeep’s alarm went off, the witness told police.

When police arrived, they found the silver Jeep with its soft top ripped and ignition tampered with. A 2009 Audi Q7 also parked in the light also was found to have its ignition tampered with and its driver’s side window smashed.
