Dangerous Drug Trends Topic of New Providence Forum

Town hall-style meeting will be held Monday night to educate parents on current drug trends and symptoms of abuse.

The New Providence Alliance for the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Abuse will host a town hall style forum Monday night on the current drug trends.

The forum will be held at the Morris Union Jointure Commission at 340 Central Ave. at 7 p.m.

The presentation will educate the community on the dangerous drugs impacting the state, county and locally.

“As someone who has been involved in drug education for over twenty years,  I have increasing concerns regarding the types of drugs we are seeing on a much more frequent basis such as Heroin, Molly (pure MDMA, Ecstasy), and opiate use in our community," said Scott Torre, alliance co-chairman and deputy police chief.

Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park will open the program followed by a panel discussion with experts on the subject of substance abuse.

The alliance believes it is essential for parents to obtain the information needed to help create an open dialogue with their children and learn about these dangerous drugs.
