Emergency Crews Respond to Fire on Morehouse Place

A teen was treated and released at the scene for possible smoke inhalation.

The following information was submitted by the New Providence Police Department.

Police, Fire and Rescue Squad members responded to a home on Morehouse Place on April 22 for reports of a fire in the kitchen.

According to police, the fire was reported at 7:20 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they observed smoke coming from the residence. The homeowner was able to douse the majority of the blaze with a fire extinguisher that was in the house. Officers and firefighters then completely extinguished the flames.

Reports indicate that the fire is believed to have been caused by a faulty dishwasher. The rescue squad treated a 13-year-old female for possible smoke inhalation, but she was released on scene to her parents.
