During road construction this afternoon on Pearl Street at the intersection of Hawthorne Drive, a major water main ruptured causing significant damage to the roadway and flooding in the immediate area.

Residents are requested to avoid this area and plan alternate routes when traveling.

Parents of Allen W. Roberts School students are advised that this repair will most likely not be completed by the morning drop-off time and additional time should be allocated as well as an alternative route to school.

Though the water main break is nearby, AWR school still has water. To err on the side of caution, we ask parents to send their children to school tomorrow with water bottles for drinking.

We will update this information once we hear back from the water company as to the extent of the damage.
