Berkeley Heights Blotter: Burglar Took $3,000 in Cash, Jewelry From Summit Avenue Home

On Friday, March 8, 2013 at 10:16 pm, Ptl. Ron DeSimoni arrested David B. Carson, 28, of Westfield. Carson was found sleeping in a 2005 Subaru while parked on South Sherman Avenue. Further investigation revealed Carson to be intoxicated at which time he was placed under arrest. Carson was transported to police headquarters, processed and charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Carson was given a date to appear in Berkeley Heights Municipal Court and released into the custody of a relative.

On Wednesday, March 13, 2013, Ptl. Donato Minicozzi investigated a burglary which occurred on Summit Avenue. The investigation revealed that the residence was entered during the day through a rear window of the home. The victim reported that approximately $3,000 in cash and jewelry were taken.  Detective Patrick Moran responded to the scene for processing and the matter has been referred to the Investigations Division.
