New Providence Blotter: Central Avenue Resident Reports Phone Scam

The following arrest information was provided by the New Providence Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

3-1-2013 – A Central Avenue resident reported that she received a phone call from someone posing as her grandson stating that he was arrested in the Dominican Republic after being stopped by police for drugs.  The resident caught onto the scam and did not send any money.

3-1-2013 – A Borough resident reported the theft of $130.00 from her purse that was left in a shopping cart at a Springfield Avenue business.  The detective bureau is investigating this report.

3-5-2013 – A Southgate Road resident reported that someone had burglarized her apartment while she was away during the end of December into January.  The resident reported that over $4,000 in jewelry was stolen and was not noticed until the end of February.  The detective bureau is investigating the report.

3-7-2013 – Patrolman Joseph DiParisi arrested Parris Moore, 38, of Maplewood on an outstanding warrant out of South Plainfield Municipal Court.  The warrant was located during a motor vehicle stop on Passaic Street while Mr. Moore was operating an unregistered motor vehicle.  Mr. Moore was turned over to the South Plainfield Police Department.
