New Providence Police Arrest Chatham Man For DUI

3-8-2013 – Patrolman Joseph DiParisi charged Tony Williams, 43, of Chatham with driving under the influence. 

The charge stems from Patrolman DiParisi checking on a parked vehicle on Martin’s Lane at 3:50 AM. As the officer approached the vehicle to check if the driver needed assistance, the driver accelerated in between the police car and the officer.

The driver then traveled through a stop sign on Martin’s Lane and crossed Mountain Avenue when the vehicle became airborne after striking a curb to the property. Officers tracked the vehicle to a dead end in the parking lot. 

Mr. Williams was also charged with failure to submit to breath tests, reckless driving, failure to yield to a police vehicle and failure to stop at a stop sign. He was released to a friend with a pending court date.
